Eight Manufacturers Recall Swimming Pool and Inground Spa Drain Covers Due to Incorrect Ratings - Covers Pose Possible Entrapment Hazard to Swimmers

CPSC Swimming Pool and Drain Recall

Once again owners/operators and consumers of swimming pools and spas are being asked to take immediate actions regarding faulty drain covers.  In a memorandum dated May 26, 2011, from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and in conjunction with eight drain manufacturers a voluntary recall of swimming pool and spa drain covers has been launched.

The recalled drain covers were incorrectly rated to handle the flow of water through the drain cover.  While no incidents have been reported to the CPSC, consumers are asked to stop using the recalled drain covers.  Swimming pool owners/operators and consumers who have one of the recalled drain covers should contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
